Shamanism
Earlier this month I was contacted by third year fashion student, Yasmin Kheradmandan of LJMU. My friend had informed her of this blog and Yas was keen to contribute some of her work.
Yasmin has designed and created her own clothes based on the beliefs and practices of Shamanism. For those who are fans of the Mighty Boosh, you'll be loosely familiar with what a Shayman's duty entails, however, for those of you that don't know then allow me to explain thustly: Shamanism encompasses the belief that shamans are intermediaries or messengers between the human world and the spirit worlds.
Below, you will find images of Yas' work.

Yas explained how these designs are aimed at 18-25 year olds as part of the 2012 autumn season. The designs are influenced the 'Black Shaman Tradition', the most powerful of all shaman types, and models of courage and discipline; representative in Yas' designs.

Top 10 Contemporary Best Dressed Male Bands/Artists
Here is a list of the top ten best dressed bands and artists in today's music culture. This is entirely based on my own opinion, however it would be radical if you give us your opinion on who should and shouldn't be included. In no particular order it goes:
Interpol
Interpol are an American rock band from New York City. The band's downbeat attitude has been matched with a love of fashion.
Famously 'dapper' bass player, Carlos D, left the band last year, but the remaining members are still clad in designer suits at every gig and interview, and not just for band photo shoots. A modern day Rat Pack.
Singer/guitarist, Paul Banks, says: "You’ve got to wear clothes, so you may as well enjoy what you’re doing and find clothes that suit you. Fashion is a nice way to communicate things in an artful way."
Kings Of Leon
If you were to see a picture of Tennessee’s KOL when they first emerged onto the music scene in 2003, you'd probably think you'd hopped into Marty McFly's DeLorean, got that baby up to 88mph and travelled back in time to the 70s. Their style back then wasn't influenced by 70s rock star, it WAS 70s rock star.
Back to the future, now, they certainly have rectified their image and adapted into a leather jacket, skinny jeans, top hat, Jesus piece rockin' band. Sorry Caleb, you can scream (or ideally sing) "fucking hipsters" all you want, but you, your brothers and cousin have cemented a place in twentydeuce's fashion blog.
The Maccabees
Time for some home-grown talent with a firm grasp on the ever advancing fashion scene. The Maccabees are a rock band from London, whose fashion is geek-chic, but not quite archetypal geek-chic. Picture a geek's attire on his day off, thrown together with a combination of white Nike high-tops a mariner type t-shirt and polo shirt/jumper combination.
Their peculiar, badass geek-chic style can be pieced together by visiting high street stores such as Topman, Urban Outfitters and American Apparel, as well as obsecure, questionably overpriced vintage stores.
Outkast
American Hip-Hop Duo, Outkast, reside from Georgia, America, far away from the UK, and FAR OUT in terms of their apparel.
When Andre 3000 (the delightful afro'ed man, pictured right) isn't railing against rap music's lyrical filth or its noisy beats, he's penning a diatribe to the local paper about hip-hop's abominable style of dress.
"Young men wearing their pants about their ankles! What's this world coming to, anyway?"
It is evident to the naked eyeball that Outkast possess more style, all be it bizarre, than any other rap artist or group. Colourful, vibrant, smart, in-your-face fashion; they have undoubtedly perfected this image.
The Strokes
Yet another New York Rock 'n' Roll Band, The Strokes have been named one of the most prominent indie bands to emerge in the 21st century. I hate to say it, and I'm sure they'd hate to hear it, but they're kind of like an indie-rock boy band. That said, it's more due to the fact that chicks dig their appeal and they're devilish good looks.
A band that formed post-grunge era, they have created their own style which many other bands seem to have adopted or outright imitated. Distinctively different, yet glamorous they are able to make a scruffy pair of Chuck Taylor Converse look fucking cool; the first band since the Ramones to achieve this.
Mumford and Sons
Mumford & Sons are an English folk rock band, with a very distinctive poor, yet rich Dickensian look. Tweed waistcoats, ties, top hats, braces, slacks all mixed together with designer haircuts, and hair of the face. Radical huh?
Their image is completely unique yet it suits them down to the core of the earth.
The Killers
In a sea of t-shirt and jeans wearing bands, The Killers have always stood out. The Las Vegas boys in makeup have always strived to be glamorous. Singer Brandon explains, "Image has always been an important part of Rock 'n' Roll music. We've spent our lives getting this far and afford such luxuries, we want to make an effort, visually."
Brandon likes to rock a blazer, whether it be a futuristic, space-bound silver blazer or a coat that look like he's been wrestling big bird in, he and the rest of the boys certainly pull off the more exaggerated and "glamorous indie rock and rolllllll" look (see what I did there?)
The Horrors
The Horrors are an English Band who reside from Southend. If you wanna look like these boys then you're gonna have to scour op-shops and thrift stores for hours in the hope that you'll find a pair of shiny black pointy toed lace-up shoes that fit you perfectly. Ruffly and/or frilly collars, Big/coiffed hair and black jeans that will cause impotence in later life, The Horrors have made Goth= hot.
The Klaxons
The Klaxons are another British indie band with swell style. It takes a lot of time to make it look like you've not bothered; this certainly applies to the rocking' Londoners. With such songs entitled "golden skans", "Gravity's Rainbow" and "Magick", it definitely bodes well for their vibrant, yet quite ordinary look. A simple cardigan, polo and skinny jeans never looked so good.
Mystery Jets
Last, but not not least, we have another London-based band, the Mystery Jets. Retro print T-shirts, Pensioner vest-cardigans, slacks and lumberjack shirts isn't a mystery, but they jet around the world, touring, in such magnificent attire. They are a good example of a band who alternate their look, from typical English-gent, to 'I don't give an F' adolescent. Go anywhere in the land and you'll find fashionistas who resemble the mystery jet's look.

Just a quick one
I noticed that this blog doesn't fit on one page. You will see the blog in its entirety if you click 'older posts', at the bottom right of the page. Watch this space, I've got something prit-ay special in store.

So I've realised that this blog is veering more towards a female audience, however I created this for both genders. So fellas, get a load of this video if you need some rock 'n' roll inspiration.
Which Bands/Musicians Influence Your Style?
It is indisputable that music has an impact on 'street fashion'. This is emphasised in the video (below) where Alexa discusses street fashion and her style inspirations. It is my aim to highlight the connection between fashion and music and how a person's taste in music is reflected by the way they dress.

Alexa Chung: "Do smell it, don't not wash it."
Alexa Chung is a muse to many fashion designers because of her distinctive personal style. She frequently appears on best dressed lists, is a regular cover girl for Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar and is often seen in the front row at fashion shows. She is a role model to many young fashionistas and when you walk down your high-street you will always see somebody who imitates her style. This video will help you gain futher insight to her style choice.
British Model and TV presenter, Alexa,discusses her adventures in style. Alexa is a connoisseur of vintage fashion, experimenting in wonderful attire that is edgy, quirky and unconventional. Style that is ugly but so beautiful at the same time, and she is an excellent example of the old cliche, "it's not what you wear, it's how you wear it."
In this video Alexa explains how she opts for sheepskin jackets, children's old duffle pea coats. Her inspiration ties in with music and bands, and what makes her style so distinctive is that she draws inspiration from both male and female musicians. Some of her idols include: Keith Richards, Patti Smith and Alison Mosshart (from the band 'The Kills').

The Streets Are Calling
This evening I visited Liverpool City Centre, equipped with my eyeballs and my trusty SLR Camera (Canon 1000D) to capture some snaps of the most alternative and appealing fashionistas looming Liverpool. It was undoubtedly a success and this will evident in the photos which will be uploaded shortly. Thank you to all those who allowed me to photograph you, ‘preciate it ever such a lot so’s I do.
